About Chris Leahy

Partner & Client Executive

Chris Leahy has been developing innovative and successful employee benefit programs for over 30 years. His clients value his independent consultative approach, attention to detail and technical depth.

The foundation of his expertise in the design, funding, implementation, communication and administration of health & welfare programs stems from his 14 years with a national insurance carrier. He started in underwriting and quickly moved to sales. During his time in sales in the Virginia marketplace, he wrote over $400 million in business, retaining greater than 97% of it.

In 2002, Chris became a partner in a regional consulting and brokerage operation in Richmond to pursue his desire to partner more directly with clients to craft balanced solutions to meet their employee benefits and Human Resources needs. Chris possesses great insight into the many varied and demanding employee benefit and HR issues facing companies and he worked closely with employers to solve them.  Regardless of the challenge, Chris observed that the needs of the employer were best met when the thrust of the design and execution of any plan or program was aimed at understanding and balancing the needs of both the employer and its employees and their families.

Chris’ commitment to developing such solutions led him to form an independent consulting firm in 2006, with his wife Robin Leahy. In order to serve the client’s best interest, it is Chris’ strong conviction that the advisor must be truly independent – unencumbered by the pressures to “push” product or satisfy the quarterly margin demands of Wall Street. Leahy Consulting Services’ one and only focus is the client’s needs and Chris understands that long-term success hinges on customizing and delivering “balanced client solutions”.

Chris has successfully led Leahy Consulting Services and its team for over 14 years.

Education: Chris is a 1988 graduate of Middlebury College.
